National Mining museum

of Scotland

National Mining Museum Scotland in Midlothian was created in 1984 to tell the story of coal and those who mined it. It's based at one of Europe's finest surviving examples of a Victorian colliery (coal mine and associated buildings and equipment), which ceased production in 1981.

Download the Minecraft map to find out more about life as a miner. Take part in mini-adventures to "earn your wages", extract coal from the darkness of the pit and listen out for the singing canaries that warn of danger.

If you're new to Minecraft and need help getting started, visit the 'How to Guides'.
